Neil Haverstick

Neil Haverstick is a guitarist, composer, writer, and educator. He is known for his explorations of microtonal tuning systems, and has guitars with 19, 22, 24, 31, 34, and 36 notes to the octave, as well as fretless guitars and the ancient Middle Eastern Oud. He has recorded 10 CD's of original music, written articles for Guitar Player, Downbeat, and Vintage Guitar magazines, and authored 3 books on music theory, including "Harmonics and Spirals, The Code of Music" in 2016. In 1992 he won Guitar Player's Ultimate Guitar Competition (Experimental Category) for his 19 tone piece "Spider Chimes," and also won a Composition Fellowship in 1999 from the Colorado Council On the Arts for his CD "Acoustic Stick." His 2011 CD "Hide And Seek" received a 4 star review in Downbeat, and was chosen as one of their CD's of the year.
